Loggers and environmentalists both claimed victory after a bitter 10 month battle. The Wilderness Society will also have to pay loggers $45,000 after settling a claim for loss of income caused a by a protest in a logging coupe near Beech Forest in 1999. The courts heard loggers harassed the group by shining floodlights on their camp and banging large fuel drums all night to prevent them sleeping.
